SD29 open: Rep. César Blanco (D-El Paso) announced he would seek the seat being vacated by Sen. Jose Rodriguez (D-El Paso). He was endorsed by fellow Reps. Art Fierro (D-El Paso), Mary González (D-Clint), Joe Moody (D-El Paso) and Pancho Nevárez (D-Eagle Pass) and by U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-El Paso). Blanco has also been endorsed by El Paso County Judge Richard Samaniego (D) and El Paso Co. Sheriff Richard Wiles (D). Rodriguez announced his retirement on Friday.

CD10: Cypress resident Olis Bahari established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Austin) as an independent.

CD11 open: Brady business owner Wesley Virdell established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Midland) as a Republican. He is at least the eighth Republican to take a formal step toward running to succeed Conaway.

CD20: San Antonio construction business owner Anita Marie Kegley established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) as a Republican.

Correction: On Friday, we accidentally transposed the first and last name of Ryan Lee, a potential candidate for HD129. Lee, a Houston firefighter, explored running for Houston city council District E but ultimately did not file for that race. Social media activity suggests Lee would be a primary challenger for Rep. Dennis Paul (R-Webster). We regret the error and have corrected the original report.
