AG: District Judge George Gallagher scheduled Attorney General Ken Paxton’s criminal securities fraud trial to begin in Harris Co. on September 12. Jury selection will begin the day before, and Gallagher expects the trial to conclude by September 22.

HD16: A Nathan Johnson has filed a campaign treasurer appointment for a potential challenge to Rep. Will Metcalf (R-Conroe). We were unable to determine anything else about him at this time.

Updated June 17: Nathan Johnson’s campaign treasurer appointment form accurately listed SD16 under “office sought,” but it was erroneously listed under HD16 in the Ethics Commission’s reports on active CTAs. That error has since been corrected. He is a Dallas attorney challenging Sen. Don Huffines (R-Dallas) as a Democrat.

HD19: A Sherry Ann Williams has filed a campaign treasurer appointment for a potential challenge to Rep. James White (R-Hilister). We were unable to determine anything else about her at this time.

HD28: We previously reported that Richmond resident and Democratic precinct chair Meghan Scoggins had filed a campaign treasurer report but did not indicate which office she was seeking. We have located an ActBlue fundraising page indicating she is challenging Rep. John Zerwas (R-Richmond) as a Democrat.

Dallas: The Dallas Morning News endorsed incumbent Mark Clayton for city council (D9).

San Antonio: The San Antonio Express-News endorsed incumbent Rebecca Viagran for city council (D3).
