TXBIZ PAC: The Texas Assoc. of Business TXBIZ PAC released its slate of legislative endorsements for the general election. In general, the PAC endorsed Republican incumbents and open-seat nominees. Notably, the PAC endorsed Democratic challenger Julie Johnson over Rep. Matt Rinaldi (R-Irving) in HD115 and Democratic nominee John Turner over Lisa Luby Ryan (R) in open HD114. The group did not endorse any members of the Texas Freedom Caucus.

SD2: The Dallas Morning News endorsed challenger Kendall Scudder (D) over Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood).

SD8 open: The Dallas Morning News endorsed Mark Phariss (D) over Angela Paxton (R).

SD16: The campaign of Sen. Don Huffines (R-Dallas) released a new ad, “For Taxpayers, Against Corruption,” highlighting his efforts to end Dallas County Schools (without specifically naming it).

SD19 special: Former Rep. and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego (D-Alpine) reported receiving $92K in additional contributions, all dated September 17, in a daily pre-election campaign finance report filed on Monday.

HD114: The campaign of John Turner (D) released a new ad, “Change the Tone.”

CD6 open: The Dallas Morning News endorsed Jana Lynne Sanchez (D) over Tarrant Co. Tax Assessor-Collector Ron Wright (R).

CD23: Women Vote Project, an arm of EMILY’s List, released a new ad, “Not Working for Us,” attacking U.S. Rep. Will Hurd (R-San Antonio). The ad does not mention his Democratic opponent, Gina Ortiz Jones.

Meanwhile, a New York Times/Siena Coll. poll shows Hurd leading Ortiz Jones, 51%-43%, although it weirdly identifies the sprawling district as the Rio Grande Valley,
