HD28 special: Gov. Greg Abbott (R) ordered a special election for November 5 to fill the unexpired term of Rep. John Zerwas (R-Richmond), who is resigning effective September 30. The election coincides with the statewide Constitutional amendment election, local general elections and the HD100 special election. Candidates must file with the Secretary of State’s office by September 4.
HD35: Rep. Oscar Longoria (D-La Joya) announced he would seek re-election to a fifth term.
HD102: Richardson resident Ricky Walker established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos (D-Dallas). We were unable to identify him conclusively.
