Gov. Greg Abbott received multiple second- and third-degree burns on his legs when he was accidentally scaled with hot water during a family vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyo. The accident occurred on Thursday. He traveled to Dallas on Friday to attend a press conference following the tragic killing of five Dallas law enforcement officers and injury of several others and at least two civilians. He did not disclose his injury until Sunday.
The injury may prevent Abbott from attending next weekend’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
On Twitter, Abbott thanked well-wishers and let them know he had “overcome tougher challenges.”
