HD146 open: In a recent post, we somehow got a week ahead of ourselves as we erroneously reporting that precinct chairs would meet today, July 30, to choose a replacement nominee for Rep. Borris Miles (D-Houston). The meeting is, as we have previously reported, scheduled for Saturday, August 6. We regret the error and apologize for any confusion it caused.
HD120 open: A total of 221 people voted early in person for Tuesday’s special runoff election. This number excludes ballot-by-mail voters, who we expect will represent the largest bloc of voters in what may be the lowest-turnout special runoff election in at least 20 years. Tuesday is Election Day.

Laura Thompson reported no contributions or expenditures since July 1 in a late-filed runoff report. Lou Miller has yet to file his runoff report, which was due on July 25, or it is not yet available online from the Texas Ethics Commission.
PRES: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Hillary Clinton. We do not recall a Texas newspaper making a general election endorsement this far in advance.
