HD10 open: Former Rep. John Wray (R-Waxahachie) is expected to announce his candidacy as soon as tomorrow (Thursday), and former HD10 candidate Ryan Pitts, son of former Rep. Jim Pitts (R-Waxahachie), is also considering whether he will seek the state House seat being vacated by U.S. Rep.-elect Jake Ellzey (R-Waxahachie). Wray reported having $47K on hand as of June 30. Pitts has just under $4K on hand.
HD35: La Joya electrical supervisor Jimmie Garcia established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Oscar Longoria (D-Mission) as a Republican.
HD52: Round Rock legislative aide Caroline Harris established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. James Talarico (D-Round Rock) as a Republican. Harris is a policy analyst for Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola).
HD108: Dallas educator and Democratic precinct chair Freda Heald announced she would challenge Rep. Morgan Meyer (R-Dallas).
CD31: Harker Heights community organizer Jonathan Hildner announced he would challenge U.S. Rep. John Carter (R-Round Rock) as a Democrat.
