Today (Tuesday) was the deadline for county parties to electronically submit their candidate rosters to the Secretary of State, and state parties’ deadline is tomorrow (Wednesday). We still have not seen candidate lists from the Libertarian and Green Parties, and we also have not seen a list of independent candidates who filed their declarations of intent.

HD74 open: U.S. District Judge David Alan Ezra has issued an emergency restraining order preventing the preparation of paper or electronic ballots for the Democratic primary for HD74 until it resolves a lawsuit filed by Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey Cantu, who was ruled ineligible by the Texas Democratic Party. A hearing has been scheduled for January 13.

HD129: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Rep. Dennis Paul (R-Webster) for re-election.

HD138 open: Harris Co. Republican Party chair Paul Simpson declared Josh Flynn ineligible because “public records do not show that [Flynn’s] resignation … was properly delivered” prior to his filing an application to seek the Republican nomination. Flynn is a Harris Co. Dept. of Education trustee.

Meanwhile, Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Lacey Hull in the Republican primary to succeed Rep. Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston).

CD12: President Trump gave his “Complete and Total Endorsement” to U.S. Rep. Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth), who is facing a primary challenge from former Colleyville council member Chris Putnam.

CD22 open: Former Rep. John Zerwas (R-Richmond) endorsed Pierce Bush for the Republican nomination to succeed U.S. Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land).
