HD41: Mission physician John R. Guerra established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Bobby Guerra (D-Mission), likely as a Republican. John Guerra unsuccessfully ran for Mission city council P4 in 2018 (22%) and mayor of Mission in 2014 (20%).

HD49: Austin resident Charles A. Meyer established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Gina Hinojosa (D-Austin). We were unable to identify him conclusively.

HD100: Dallas business owner Daniel Clayton established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat vacated by former Rep. Eric Johnson (D-Dallas), the newly elected mayor of Dallas. Clayton is a former aide to Rep. Toni Rose (D-Dallas).

TBD: Houston resident Van Q. Hyunh established a state campaign committee but did not indicate an office sought. We were unable to identify the candidate conclusively, but an individual with that name is the chief of staff to Houston council member Steve Le.

CD9: Pearland real estate broker and insurance agent Melissa Wilson-Williams established a campaign account for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep.  Al Green (D-Houston).

Early voting concludes Tuesday in the handful of jurisdictions holding runoff elections on June 29.

Supreme Court Rulings: The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hand down decisions on racial and partisan gerrymandering cases and the citizenship question for the 2020 Census this week. These are some of the few remaining decisions from the Court’s most recent term.
