HD62: Sherman attorney and Grayson Co. Republican Party chair Reggie Smith formed a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of Rep. Larry Phillips (R-Sherman). He is at least the third Republican to take a formal step toward running for the seat, joining former Sherman council member Kevin Couch and Van Alstyne engineer and former congressional candidate Brent Lawson. CD6: 2016 Democratic nominee Ruby Faye Woolridge reauthorized her campaign committe for a potential rematch against U.S. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis). She received 39% of the vote in the last general election.

Sealy: Chris Noack appears to have won a four-way race for the P2 council seat outright with 50.3% of the vote. The election was moved to Saturday from August 26 because of Hurricane Harvey.

Southlake: Chris Archer won a three-way special election Saturday for the P6 council seat outright with 61% of the vote. Turnout was around 9%.
