Corpus Christi: Former council member Mark Scott announced he was dropping out of the special election for mayor one day after a court ruled he was eligible to run. “The best thing for the voters is to let them focus on the issues, not on this politically motivated circus,” he said in a Facebook post. “I cannot in good conscience continue my candidacy.” Scott said he would run in 2018 as he originally intended.

Pasadena: The Pasadena Police Officer’s Union endorsed John Moon Jr. for mayor. The union also endorsed incumbent Cary Bass (DG), incumbent* Sammy Casados (DD), Don Harrison (DC), incumbent* Bruce Leamon (DB), Larry Peacock (DF), Thomas Schoenbein (DH), Daniel Vela (DA) and incumbent* Cody Ray Wheeler (DE) for council positions.

*Because a court ordered Pasadena to revert to a single-member plan, incumbent label applies to current council members irrespective of their current districts.
