A few things we wanted to share with you today:

SD18 Special Election. Sen. Glenn Hegar is the featured guest at a fundraising reception for Rep. Lois Kolkorst in Brenham on November 19. On Facebook, the Kolkhorst campaign lists more than 800 steering committee members, event chairs and event sponsors. Details on the event, including the full list of supporters, can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/events/300455286810087/. Meanwhile, the Conservative Republicans of Texas PAC endorsed Kolkhorst.

HD123 Special Election. San Antonio council member Diego Bernal is resigning to run in the yet-to-be-called special election. Bernal, first elected to the council in 2011, is the fourth council member to leave office early (All SA council members are up for re-election in 2015.). Rep. Mike Villarreal intends to complete his current term.

Meanwhile, a campaign treasurer appointment was filed today by Nathan Alonzo, but no office was indicated. A person with that name serves as the legislative director of the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Assoc., so we wonder if this CTA is for the upcoming HD123 special election. We’ll keep our eye on it.

Hall In Again. Houston attorney Ben Hall announced he would run for mayor again in 2015. He lost to Mayor Annise Parker in 2013, taking 28% of the vote.

The Loneliest Number. There were 401 ballots cast in Glasscock Co., which is just east of Midland. Exactly 1 of them was a straight-ticket Democratic vote (0.25%). Greg Abbott received 94% of the vote in that county, and Wendy Davis received 15 votes.
