The six candidates vying for three legislative seats in Tuesday’s special runoff elections were required to file their runoff campaign finance reports yesterday (Tuesday), and five of them were available online today (Wednesday). These disclose contributions received and expenditures made during the first 18 days of 2020.

HD28 special: Democrat Eliz Markowitz out-raised Republican Gary Gates, $109K to $51K, for the period, but Gates outspent her, $395K to $88K. Gates added $350K to his loan principal, bringing it to nearly $1.9M. Markowitz has raised $728K for the race so far, but Gates has outspent her by nearly $1M.

Meanwhile, Quorum Report’s Scott Braddock reported an internal poll conducted for the Gates campaign shows him leading Markowitz by 13 points.

HD100 special: Democrat Lorraine Birabil raised $11K, spent $20K and has $19K on hand. Democrat James Armstrong III’s report was not available online.

HD148 special: Republican Luis LaRotta narrowly out-raised Democrat Anna Eastman, $20K to $17K, but was outspent, $46K to $10K, during the period. Eastman has out-raised LaRotta, $198K to $44K, overall and outspent him, $187K to $29K.

Early voting continues through Friday.
