A few things we wanted to share with you today:

HD121: Former Texas Public Policy Foundation President Jeff Judson announced he would challenge Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) in the primary. He has been challenged in each of the last two primaries by Matt Beebe, who appears to be running again, and received more than 60% of the vote each time. He has otherwise been unopposed since winning a 2005 special election with 62% of the vote. Beebe raised just over $100K in his 2014 bid. Judson may have the resources to fund a complete primary campaign. Speaker Straus has $8.2 million on hand.

HD96: Kennedale broadcaster and Democratic activist Sandra Lee filed a campaign treasurer appointment to challenge Rep. Bill Zedler (R-Arlington).

HD107: Former Rep. Allen Vaught (D) endorsed Victoria Neave.

HD126: Houston resident Glenn Rex filed a campaign treasurer appointment signaling his candidacy for the seat being vacated by Rep. Patricia Harless (R-Spring). Houston businessman and Republican activist Kevin Roberts is already in the race.

HD132: Rep. Mike Schofield (R-Katy) announced he would seek re-election.

SD24: Bee Cave home builder and small business owner Jon Cobb announced he would run in the Republican primary. In a tweet, Rep. Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs) called Cobb “a very qualified candidate.” Former San Antonio council member Reed Williams, now living in Burnet, also formally announced his campaign this week. They join Lakeway ophthalmologist Dawn Buckingham, Temple open carry advocate CJ Grisham and Fredericksburg physician Brent Mayes as announced candidates. Additional candidates are expected.

RRC2: Austin retired university professor Mark Miller, who received 3% as a Libertarian in his 2014 race for RRC, filed a campaign treasurer appointment signaling another run.
