A few things we wanted to share with you today:

HD71: Isaac Castro (R), the former mayor of Hamlin, announced he would seek a rematch against Rep. Susan King (R-Abilene), who defeated Castro, 67%-33%, in 2014. Castro lost a 2008 race for HD85.

CTAs: Several campaign treasurer appointments of interest were filed during the last few days.

  • HD5 Open: Emory resident Randy Davis, who may be a director of the South Rains Special Utility District
  • HD77 Open: El Paso attorney Evelina Ortega
  • HD130 Open: Houston resident Michael Wolfe, who may be an elected trustee of the Harris Co. Dept. of Education. Wolfe lost the 2002 race for SD14 to Sen. John Whitmire (D-Houston), 60%-40%.

Also, former Rep. Chente Quintanilla (D-Tornillo) has re-established his campaign account, which has been inactive since 2011, and named a campaign treasurer. His form does not indicate which district he may be running for, but he has previously served in HD75, currently held by Rep. Mary Gonzalez.

All known candidates, regardless of whether they have filed a CTA, are listed in our Crib Sheets.
