Monday is the filing deadline for the SD26, HD17 and HD123 special elections.
Romo Bid in Doubt. SD26 candidate Sylvia Romo admitted she does not reside within the district. Romo’s ability to continue in the race will depend on a district court ruling that the state’s residency requirements apply only to general elections, not special elections. The San Antonio Express-News’s John W. Gonzalez reports that Romo said she was “at the courthouse right now.” She added: “I’m not on the ballot yet. Check with me Monday.”
Bernal ‘Rap’ Video. The Diego Bernal campaign released a video featuring various local San Antonio residents “lip-synching” Bernal’s bio and campaign pitch. The video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B-_tbNGuHg&feature=youtu.be.
