A few things we wanted to share with you today:
Special Elections Called. Gov. Perry called special elections for January 6 for SD26, HD17 and HD123. Candidates must file with the Secretary of State by close of business Monday, December 22. Early voting begins December 29. He did not include HD13 within the special election call.
Suarez Announces. Converse Mayor Al Suarez announced he would run in the SD26 special election. He joins confirmed candidates Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer and Rep. Jose Menendez. Republican Alma Perez-Jackson is expected to file for the race. She is a member of the State Republican Executive Committee.
Fundraising Deadline. Saturday is the last day for state elected officials and legislators (not otherwise running in special elections) to accept campaign contributions.
Local Elections. Tomorrow is runoff election day for a number of local jurisdictions, including the city of Austin.
