Uniform Election. Polls close across much of Texas in two hours for today’s local elections. The San Antonio mayor’s race is the marquee event of the day, and we expect to have some idea of how that race is stacking up shortly after 7 p.m. We will be watching races in other localities, including Amarillo, Arlington, Brownsville, Dallas and Fort Worth.

If there is a particular race of interest that you’d like to flag for our attention, please let us know.

We do not anticipate sending very many emails tonight. Follow us on Twitter @TXElects for real-time results and analysis.

HD130 Potential Special Election. The Harris Co. Commissioners Court will meet Tuesday, and it will go into executive session to discuss and potentially appoint the new sheriff. Rep. Allen Fletcher has already announced he would not seek re-election and would instead run for sheriff in 2016.

Meanwhile, Cypress anesthesiologist Tom Oliverson has announced for Fletcher’s seat. His campaign’s social media sites went live last night or this morning.
