11 p.m. – March 4

INCUMBENTS DEFEATED

HD4: Gooden lost to Spitzer, 49-51 (100% reporting)
HD55: Sheffield lost to White, 46-54 (100% reporting)
HD90: Burnam lost to Romero by 111 votes (100% reporting)

INCUMBENTS IN TROUBLE

CD4: Hall headed to runoff, leads Ratcliffe 46-29 (47% reporting)

LTGOV: Dewhurst headed to runoff, trails Patrick 28-42 (35% reporting)

SD16: Carona trails Huffines by 616 votes (63% reporting) — 26 boxes from HD108 are among the outstanding precincts

HD1: Lavender trails VanDeaver, 44-56 (67% reporting), but we think there is an error here, but unclear how it will break for them
HD60: Keffer leads Crisp by 329 votes (81% reporting)
HD76: N. Gonzalez is in 3rd place, 10 votes short of making a runoff (18% reporting)
HD94: Patrick trails Tinderholt, 45-55 (38% reporting)
HD102: Carter trails Koop, 33.4-34.6 but leads Brown by 593 votes (87% reporting)
HD105: Harper-Brown trails Anderson by 334 votes (83% reporting) — outstanding boxes are in the northern half of the district
HD115: Ratliff trails Rinaldi by 78 votes (67% reporting)

ELSEWHERE

SD25: Campbell looks like she will win without a runoff. The outstanding boxes are in Guadalupe and Travis Cos., where she received well over 50% in EV.
SD31: Appears Seliger will prevail. Midland Co. is reporting on its web site “unofficial final” results which do not provide Canon enough votes to overcome Seliger’s lead. Boots on the ground say AP has called the race for Seliger.

HD15: Keough 57, Tough 43 (100% reporting)
HD16: Seago 44, Metcalf 42 to runoff (100% reporting)
HD18: Otto 62, Holcomb 38 (98% reporting)
HD21: Phelan 59, Nichols 41 (46% reporting)
HD23: Faircloth 66, Senter 34 (100% reporting)
HD53: Murr 41, Henneke 29 to runoff (99% reporting)
HD58: Eby 40, Burns 30 to runoff (100% reporting)
HD59: JD Sheffield 61, Pelton 31 (100% reporting)
HD64: Crownover 55, R. King 45 (100% reporting)
HD66: Shaheen 49.6, Callison 40 (100% reporting) — Shaheen is 29 votes short of avoiding runoff

10:40 p.m.

HD1: VanDeaver is beating Lavender, and we think we’ve cleared up the error. From what we can tell, some of the EV numbers reported to the SoS are flipped. According to Lamar Co. Elections, VanDeaver won EV, 1,477 to 839, and ED 1,281 to 910. He won absentee votes 219-217. Overall, VanDeaver carried Lamar Co., 2,977-1,966. So that gives us:

  • Bowie Co. Lavender 2,542 and VanDeaver 2,114 (19% reporting)
  • Franklin Co. Lavender 619 and VanDeaver 742 (100% reporting)
  • Lamar Co. Lavender 1,966 and VanDeaver 2,977 (100% reporting)
  • Red River Co. Lavender 367 and VanDeaver 1,240 (92% reporting)

OVERALL Lavender 5,494 and VanDeaver 7,073 (67% reporting). Lavender needs some big margins in those Bowie Co. boxes to overcome what has become a large deficit.

HD4: It appears that Gooden has been defeated by Spitzer. The SoS shows 10 precincts out but the county detail shows none out.

HD6: Schaefer leading comfortably over Ogle

HD60: Keffer leads Crisp by 2,837 votes with one box out in Eastland Co. and eight out in Stephens Co. (advantage Keffer in both cos.)

HD76: Blanco 43, Chavez 29.1, N. Gonzalez 28.1 — Gonzalez now 74 votes behind Chavez with 7 boxes out

HD92: Stickland is winning comfortably

HD94: Tinderholt has increased his lead over Patrick to 1,411 votes with 9 precincts out.

10:20 p.m.

AG: Smitherman has conceded. Via Twitter, he wished Branch and Paxton good luck.

SD31: With 79% reporting, Seliger leads Canon by 2,839 votes, but Canon has some big boxes still to come. Boxes out and advantage:

  • Carson Co. 6 of 9 – adv. Seliger
  • Donley Co. 7 of 7 – no data reported
  • Gaines Co. 1 of 9 – adv. Canon
  • Hansford Co. 8 of 9 – adv. Seliger
  • Howard Co. 12 of 13 – adv. Seliger
  • Midland Co. 33 of 46 – big adv. Canon
  • Oldham Co. 7 of 8 – adv. Seliger

Canon won Midland Co. EV, 68-32. This suggests a very close finish to this race.

HD60: Keffer 54, Crisp 46 with 34% reporting. 25% of Hood is in (Crisp’s best co.) while none of Brown or Eastland is in (Keffer’s best).

DALLAS CO. UPDATE

SD16: Huffines 50.5, Carona 49.5 (305 vote margin), 16% reporting

HD102: Koop 35, Carter 34, Brown 28 (Koop leads Carter by 51 votes), 26% reporting
HD105: Anderson 50.25, Harper-Brown 49.75 (21 votes), 9% reporting

9:15 p.m.

TRAVIS EV is in:

SD25: Campbell 58, Chan 26, Novak 15 — looking highly likely Campbell wins w/o runoff as she was at 54% in other counties’ EV

LTGOV: Dewhurst 34, Patrick 29, Patterson 21

ELSEWHERE:

HD1: Lamar Co. appears to be 100% reported, but the HD1 numbers are odd. It is the only race in that county that saw significant movement between EV and ED voters. In EV, Lavender won 58% of the vote. In ED, VanDeaver won 60%. Odds are, one of these two sets of numbers is misreported.

HD53: Looking like a runoff between Murr (46%) and Henneke (29%).

HD59: Sheffield still hovering around 60% with 53% reporting.

HD81: Landgraf 58, Keith 42 with 49% reporting.

TRAVIS CO JUDGE: Eckhardt 53, Brown 47 in EV
