GOV: Calling it “spring training” for an eventual campaign against Gov. Greg Abbott (R), the Andrew White campaign called on the Texas Democratic Party to host a series of debates between him and Lupe Valdez. The party said it had no plans to organize debates, noting that it had never done so in the past. In a statement, the Valdez campaign said she was open to debating White closer to the runoff date “when the voters become more focused on the race.”

SD19: Rep. Roland Gutierrez released a list of endorsements from several dozen current and former elected officials, including Reps. Barbara Gervin-Hawkins (D-San Antonio) and Justin Rodriguez (D-San Antonio), 12 sitting legislators and former Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer (D-San Antonio), who will almost certainly be returning to the House next year. Former Sen. Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio) is also among the endorsers.

CD31: Former Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) endorsed M.J. Hegar for the Democratic nomination to face U.S. Rep. John Carter (R-Round Rock).

Kaufman Co.: A state district judge has ordered the review of a single provisional ballot that could alter the outcome of a county court at law race. Incumbent Judge Dennis Jones (R) ended election night with a one-vote lead over challenger Tracy Booker Gray. If the registration of the voter in question is confirmed, the voter’s provisional ballot must be counted, and the result would be a tied election, triggering a recount.
