Our analysis of July semiannual campaign finance reports can be found here. Our Crib Sheets have been fully updated with the latest results.

HD10 open: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Jake Ellzey (R).

HD37: Cameron Co. Democratic Party chair Amber Medina’s campaign finance report indicates she is challenging Rep. Alex Dominguez (D-Brownsville) in the primary. She also has established an ActBlue page for the race.

HD65: Former Rep. Ron Simmons (R-Lewisville) loaned his campaign committee $100K five days before the close of the filing period, bringing his cash on hand to $129K. He reported no contributions, but the loan is a sign of a potential rematch against Rep. Michelle Beckley (D-Carrollton), who defeated Simmons, 51%-49%, in November.

HD67: Plano attorney and Beto O’Rourke campaign alum Jenna Royal established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Allen) as a Democrat.

HD84: 2018 Democratic nominee Samantha Fields announced she would seek a rematch against Rep. John Frullo (R-Lubbock), who defeated her, 60%-40%, in November. We previously reported Fields re-authorized her campaign committee but was not otherwise demonstrating that she was a candidate. She has since activated an ActBlue page and issued a press release.

Weslaco: Adrian Farias (44%) and Lupe Garcia (27%) were the top two candidates in today’s (Tuesday’s) special election and advanced to a runoff to fill a vacant council seat. A runoff date has not been set.
