HD52: Rep. James Talarico (D-Round Rock) was sworn in today to fill the remainder of former Rep. Larry Gonzales’s (R-Round Rock) unexpired term. Talarico won the special election on the same day he was elected to a full term beginning in January.

HD108: The Secretary of State has approved Democratic challenger Joanna Cattanach’s request for a recount. Canvassed results show Rep. Morgan Meyer (R-Dallas) winning re-election by 220 votes. On Election Day, the margin was 440 votes.

Austin: The city council called a December 11 runoff election for three council seats. In open D1, Natasha Harper Madison faces Mariana Salazar. In D3, incumbent Pio Renteria (48%) faces his sister Susana Almanza (21%). In open D8, Paige Ellis (30%) faces Frank Ward (25%). Meanwhile, Ward was endorsed by the Austin Police Assoc. and the Austin Board of Realtors.

Corpus Christi: D3 runoff candidate Eric Cantu has filed suit to keep opponent Roland Barrera off the ballot because Barrera did not file a personal financial statement by the September 10 deadline. Barrera filed the statement last week.

Dallas: D5 council member Rickey Callahan announced he would not seek re-election. Potential candidates include foster care agency director Terrence Perkins, Dallas ISD Trustee Jaime Resendez and park board representative Yolanda Williams.
