SD22: Granbury resident Robert Vick established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Sen. Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) as a Democrat. He is the former chair of the Hood Co. Democratic Party.
SD24: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Sen. Dawn Buckingham (R-Lakeway) for re-election.
HD18/CD18: Houston resident Whitney Hatter established a state campaign committee for the district currently held by Rep. Ernest Bailes (R-Shepherd), but we already know she established a federal campaign committee to challenge U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Houston) as an independent. Jackson Lee represents CD18. Accordingly, she will be listed solely on our Federal Crib Sheet. Hatter is at least the third person this cycle to form a state campaign committee for a federal race.
HD61: Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford) announced he would seek re-election to a 12th term. Among House Republicans, King trails only Rep. Tom Craddick (R-Midland), Rep. John Smithee (R-Amarillo) and Speaker Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) in seniority. He is tied with Rep. Geanie Morrison (R-Victoria).
HD114: Rep. John Turner (D-Dallas) announced he would seek re-election to a second term.
CD4: Sherman resident Russell Foster established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Heath) as a Democrat.
CD7: The campaign of Republican challenger Wesley Hunt announced he raised $450K during the third quarter.
CD10: The campaign of U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Austin) announced he raised $400K in the third quarter and has nearly $850K on hand. Democratic challenger Shannon Hutcheson’s campaign said she raised more than $200K during the quarter.
CD23 open: San Antonio radiant barrier business owner Darwin Boedeker established a campaign committee for a potential race for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Will Hurd (R-San Antonio) as a Republican.
CD32: The campaign of Republican challenger Genevieve Collins announced she raised $475K during the third quarter and has $445K on hand. U.S. Rep. Colin Allred’s (D-Dallas) campaign said he raised $550K for the quarter and has $1.4M on hand.
