Filing for partisan nomination or an independent candidacy for the 2022 general election continues through Monday.

LTGOV (Lean R): Democratic candidate Matthew Dowd has withdrawn from the race. State Democratic Party vice chair Carla Brailey is considering the race and teased an “important announcement” is forthcoming.

HD14 (Likely R): Bryan Democratic activist and 2018 nominee Josh Wilkinson re-established his campaign committee for a rematch against Rep. John Raney (R-College Station). Wilkinson received 44% of the vote against Raney in 2018.

HD23 open (Likely R): Galveston attorney Robert Booth announced he would run as a Republican for the seat being vacated by Rep. Mayes Middleton (R-Wallisville).

HD45 (Likely D): San Marcos educator and mermaid Jessica Mejia established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Erin Zwiener (D-Driftwood). We were unable to determine her political affiliation.

HD105 (Likely D): Irving at-large council member Allan Meagher filed as a Republican to challenge Rep. Terry Meza (D-Irving). He has served on the council since 2013 following a prior eight years on the council.

HD127 open (Likely R): Retiring Rep. Dan Huberty (R-Humble) endorsed Charles Cunningham to succeed him.

HD138 (Likely R): Houston businessman and former Houston ISD trustee Josh Flynn filed to challenge Rep. Lacey Hull (R-Houston) in the primary. Flynn lost the 2020 primary for what was then open HD138 after being declared ineligible (32%)

CD28 (Lean D): EMILY’s List endorsed primary challenger Jessica Cisneros over U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo). The group endorsed her unsuccessful 2020 primary challenge (48%).
