Early voting continues for the November 5 constitutional amendment, general and special elections.
HD25 open: Angleton attorney and council member Cody Vasut announced he would seek the seat being vacated by Speaker Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton). Lake Jackson nurse Rhonda Seth is already in the race.
HD83: Rep. Dustin Burrows (R-Lubbock), who stepped down as Republican Caucus Chair in the wake of his and Speaker Dennis Bonnen’s (R) secretly recorded meeting with Empower Texans CEO Michael Quinn Sullivan, said he still intends to seek re-election to a fourth term. Earlier this month, New Deal educator and band director David Speer suspended his campaign to challenge Burrows in the Republican primary.
HD113: Garland pharmacist Will Douglas established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Rhetta Bowers (D-Rowlett), likely as a Republican.
HD121: Gov. Greg Abbott (R) endorsed Rep. Steve Allison (R-San Antonio) for re-election.
CD28: U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) endorsed primary challenger Jessica Cisneros over U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo).
